I will be driving support for Team Pok-A-Dot, and I am unable to find a address or street location for Stith-Talbert Park in Rocky Mount, Washington Community Center in Washington, and Lou Mac-Park in Oriental. I have tried numerous Internet sources with no luck. Can anyone help?
i had researched this thoroughly as i was looking for places to eat near the where we are camping at each town, and now i cant find the peice of paper i had with all the phone numbers. however, i just did a quick search for the park in Rocky Mount and came up with this number for parks and rec, 252-972-1152. they should be able to help you with Stith-Talbert. in Lil Washington, i called the tourist bureau and they didnt know of a 'Washington Community Center" they said they had lots of community centers and that we were probably staying at the Washington Civic Center. here is a link to directions to the civic center. http://www.ci.washington.nc.us/civic_map.aspx
the Lou-Mac park is river front in Oriental. i did find a great map at http://www.visitoriental.com/assetts/pdf/orientalmap.pdf
it has the park and all the restaurants, motels, etc.
Stith-Talbert Park is located at 210 Spruce St. If you are traveling east on Hwy 64 you take the Atlantic Ave. Exit. At the base of the ramp turn left onto Atlantic Ave. You almost immediately cross a bridge over the Tar River. Take your first left onto Spruce St.. The park is straight ahead ~200ft.
Stith-Talbert Park is not in a good section of town. There is a shopping mall a few miles (2 or 3) away that has quite a few restarants That can be gotten to without going thru the questionable areas. And there will be shuttle busses. And there is Gardners's Barbcue and a couple of seafood places and one Mexican place a little closer.
Stith-Talbert Park is not in a good section of town. But not too bad. Just don't go the wrong way at night.
