Is a CamelBak type hydration system necessary or a couple of bottles enough for each day.  I hate to carry gear if I don't need it

This will be my fourth time doing this ride and all I have ever carried is two bottles. There are rest stops every 12-15 miles so you almost never drain anything before you get to the next one.

Definitely agree with Wayne, I can see NO benefit of carrying a camelback on CNC. It isn't worth the extra weight or the extra hassel.  Drink well at rest stops that are spaced every 15 miles and carry One bottle for Gatoraide and one for water and you will have more than enough.
