How is everyone dealing with this heat wave gripping the south while training for the CNC? I've tried riding at night, but it was still 87 degrees at 11:30 PM this week.
This has been tough going for me. I have been commuting to and from work three or four times a week for the last several weeks. Boy! I am cooked when I get home. If I drive. You can't get me out of the house once I feel the AC in the afternoon. So I have to force myself to get up alittle earlier so I can cycle to work which forces me to ride home around 5:00pm. I should have ridden 30+miles today but didn't. I may have to start the night riding too. I have some good lights.
It has been tought...I live about 60 miles North of Statesville, and we have had near 100 degree days. I have been starting early and just suffering. It helps to break the long days into sections of 15-20 miles and hydrate well with a light snack in between. This is my first CNC and I am hope that I have trained enough...I have followed the suggested training schedule on the site, and tried to stay on an early and regular schedule. Any suggestions?
I am from Sumter, SC and the humidity with the 100 degree days has made it tough to keep on schedule. I have been getting most of my mile on the weekend when I can get up early and do 40-50 miles before it gets dangerously hot. I try to get another 30 or so in in the evening when it starts to cool off. If it would only rain it least I could ride in it to keep cool. Hopefully September is cooler so I can do some longer rides. Not many hills here so I try to do long rides to compensate.
