Let me start with, I have never been in this area and I am from the midwest. I looked at the topograph of the entire route, I was wondering if this is an easier ride. It looks like it is a very gradual downhill ride. Anyway, I am one of those hill fans and was wondering if there will be much of that. Thanks for your comments.
Yes, there will be hills, especially on the first two days. Eventhough the topo map for the first day shows a long downhill into Bat Cave, there will be hills around Asheville, and from Lake Lure to Forest City. There is one moderate length climb from Asheville to the first rest stop, and then I believe another from Lake Lure to possibly the third rest stop. Day two looks like even more climbing. Warm-up rides will be offered on Saturday along the Blue Ridge Parkway and through Biltmore Forest (with hills), so if you are interested, contact Amanda at CNC to sign up.
