As many of you know, you should pack your stuff as close to waterproof as you can.
Well I bought some $25 bags from CampMOR. Today at walmart I looked at some bags they have in their camping section. They are almost identical with differnt logos and they are only $10!
If you buy any of these, I suggest you buy some colored duct tape to put a couple pieces on to mark your bags, it will help when you have to get them each day. (don't use red though, that's what I got!)
If the bags are the ones I'm thinking of, that have a plastic slider on the top that is supposed to help seal the air out, the ones I had like that did not seal and when you squeezed the air out the seal would break or the slider would pop off. For me they were total garbage, in fact garbage bags with a loop lanyard with a spring loaded lok cord device is what I use on white water canoe trips. The seal has never failed, if the bag does i replace it cheap with another garbage bag.
I don't think these are the same kind. At least I'm pretty sure if I understand your descripton.
These are yellow bags that you fold over, then over, and then over again and click them shut with a regular snap. Attached to the snap is a D ring type thing that you can click a carabiner (sp?).
That sounds just like what I bought last year and used. Very waterproof, but not very scuff proof. On about day 5 I found a big scuff that went all the way throught the bag. The best use I have seen was a guy last year that had put one of these inside a big green Army duffle. He said it had worked great for years. Good luck.
Oh, i get the picture. Called dry bags, made of heavy PVC type material that are real rugged stuff, can squeeze out the excess air as you fold over the top. I used one for my riding clothes in the past. Originally was thinking of the stow away type bag, clear plastic like an oversize zip lock. They don't work very well as i mentioned, seal is terrible.
