I am new to the Cycle North Carolina ride, am very interested in the fall ride and am anxiously awaiting the registration information. Can anyone give me an idea of the approximate cost for the week? Thanks...I also appreciate the info about logistics - getting back to the start point. Any idea of the cost of that?
I think the cost was $185 last year for the whole week. It will be around that figure this year probably. That is inclusive of your camping, showers, snacks, support, mechanic, etc. You would be responsible for meals and any bric a brac. You should join us. It's always a blast. If you can't go the whole week, you can sign up for any portions that interest you.
Hugster is right. And registration is free if you are a Blue Rider, and you get to speak to kids about safe riding of bikes. Lottsa fun.
Your add'l daily cost will vary, depending on how much you eat and drink and tend to shop and spend. Catered meals are 8 to $10/each, available on site but sometimes long lines and the food could run out. I suggest you eat breakfast at camp, PB&J lunch provided by CNC for free, and then splurge once you finish and clean up. I like to eat out in local establishments and enjoy a cold one, too...
Bring a charge card in case you have a serious bike challenge, I had to replace my derauiler last year, and had to pay for parts. REI provides free mechanics, but I suggest buying them free beer. Always keep the bike mechanics happy.
CNS offers chartered busses to/from start/end destinations. About 50 bucks each way. Gotta buy tickets in advance. CNC will offer details once they are worked out.
Welcome to the party, Chris. See ya around.
Jack
PS Bring enuff cash to buy a CNC jersey, about 50 to 60 bucks, you will be proud to wear it later.
Thanks Jack and Hugster- we always ride the GOBA (Great Ohio Bike Adventure) but thought we'd try something new this year and at a different time of the year, plus love NC! The price is right and I'm glad to hear they have the shuttle - and I appreciate all the details you provided. We're anxiously awaiting for the official registration to open - the price is right! See you on the road!
You'll like this year's route! Going from the Appalachains to Emerald Isle--where if you get the chance, visit Morehead City and Beaufort--great eateries and places for water view and cold drinks. Not to mention if you get to Boone on Saturday, you can climb Beech Mtn!!!!!!! Not long, but straight up.
