I always enjoyed how they combined the video to the music that we heard that week. It was also nice to hear the riders different views of the ride as well as where they were from and their goals for the week. Every year a couple of months before the ride, I dust the videos off and play them to remind me of just how much fun will be in store........as well as show them to new riders who want to know what they are getting into. From a cold CNC 2001 and Plum Nearly singing "5lbs of Possum" around the fire to riding in the rain the following 2 years, those videos always make me laugh. Are we there yet?
Thanks Ritchie for the feedback. I would like to do more in depth interviews with several people this year- perhaps someone who has done all the rides contrasted with someone who has done none. Music provides a challenge due to copyright issues. BUt if there are local bands along the way who are willing to provide music that will help.
I have ridden on all the rides since 2000 and yes have bought a video just about every year. I do like the interviews especially when people are telling where they are from. Scenes of camp life is really enjoyable like friends at the dinner table, singing and dancing in the streets, the shower trucks and even the port a potty lines. The time laps shots of tent city appearing are really great. I would really like to see more of the country side shots. Far away shoots of people riding. The focus would be on the landscape with people in the background. Cyclist singing is pretty cool unless you get caught and you show up serveral times singing all 3 verses of "Nothing could be finer than to cycling North Carolina in the morning" My family still harasses me about that.
Some things that I would be carefull about is too many "I love cycle North Carolina interviews. after a while it get alittle old. It's true this is a great ride and the CNC folks do a fantastic job. But after a while it sounds like a commercial that you have seen to many times. What might be interesting to try is , ask the question once or twice on camera and tie in the anwser from two or three dozen people. we are all saying some of the same things. "Its a great ride" , "I love the people", "best vacation I been on", "I will be back next year", "I can't believe I am up so early" "This town is wonderful"........"The staff and rest stops people can't be beat."
I hope this was not too big of an earful, You do a really great job at getting the feel of the ride and the music adds so much to the video. Keep up the good work.
