Looking for a riding partner for the cycle nc. This is my first time. Dont plan on going fast. Plan on taking pictures and enjoying the scenery along the route.
Doubt you'll have any difficulty finding people to ride with. Look up Pete & Claudia at Bubba's Pampered Pedalers on Saturday 9/30/2006 if you feel like it. Not sure what time we will arrive as we are taking the bus from Emeral Isle on Saturday morning but I'm sure we will be in camp by 4-5pm.
I am also looking for a riding partner. It is my first time at CNC. I Avg 11-12 MPH, and like to start early in the morning (unless it is really cold).
My recommendation for finding interesting riding partners is to start your day or SAG leg slower/easier by 1-2 mph or so, than you are capable of riding, and then as you see people coming up behind you slightly faster, see if you can ride with them for at least 60 seconds and do a quick intro chat to see how you like each other. Then if you don't "click", ease up your pace until the next likely person comes up.
I'm happy if I chat with someone for 20 minutes, by then most of the time we either run out of things to say or one of us will tactfully make an exit if our ears have had enough ! At camp just about anybody will do as a supper partner once.
Say HI when you see me pedaling along 14-15 mph with a tall ORANGE safety flag and maybe an empty BOB trailer.
I'll be looking for some company. I'm on a mountain bike and expect most bikers on a road bike to be passing me. I averaged 12-14 mph on hilly training rides but I'm doing this for fun, discovery and exploration. Would love to make some new friends!
If you see a petite brunette on a very well-used Trek blue mountain bike, it'll be me. Please say hi...
Maria would like very much to be a riding partner for the CNC. I also average about 12MPH and love to visit things along the way and enjoy the ride. Also plan on taking my video cam and Kodak camera for the trip. Let me know OK?
I too will be riding solo with all other thousand riders, but am hoping to meet a lot of people to ride with. I had planned to go with 3 others, yet now due to unexpected events I will be going by myself. I will be coming from Wisconsin. Look for a short brunette on a Trek Madone. This will be my first bike tour and am looking forward to the vacation from Wisconsin!
