If you can't find a ride check out Amtrak. They have a bunch of trains that run from Raleigh to Rocky Mt and points north every day. I think the one you would need is called the Silver Star train 92 North Bound.

Raleigh, NC* departs 5:30am -- Rocky Mount, NC* departs 6:41am

The normal schedule is the train gets to Rocky Mt about 6:30 and leaves about 10 min later. I am not sure how close the train station is to where we will be camped. But it may be an option if you can't find a ride.
