I notice the ad for visiting Chimney Rock and riding the elevator to the top. Unfortunately I have driven up to that elevator and don't think I can ride up to it on my 14 speed road bike . I think this would be worse (or better for some of you) than Hanging Rock last year. Does anyone know the length and grade of the road from the park entrance to the parking lot?
Ron and I live in Asheville, and have been helping Amanda with routes, etc. in this area. In June, Ron and I cycled from our house to Chimney Rock Park, and they do not allow bikes in the Park, nor do they have shuttle service to take people without vehicles to the top. I will continue to see what we can do to provide something for those wanting to visit the Park. A couple of miles up the road is Lake Lure Tours which I recommend for history buffs. The tours are about an hour long. We left our bikes safely at the ticket booth while on the tour. The tours begin at 10:00AM and depart each hour afterwards. This is about at the halfway point for the day's route...
