The Rollin' Round the River Ride in Wilkesboro, N.C. Saturday, September 24th is a nice warm up for CNC. The 50-mile out-and-back route is gently rolling with rest stops at living history sites.  This is a road cycling event where the pace and ridership are pretty similar to CNC (i.e., a few crazed hammerheads trying to be first to the finish and everybody else having a good time and taking their time!) It's a great way to be sure the bike and the bod are "dialed in" before CNC begins. Registration is $20 and the event benefits Wilkes County Special Olympics.
