Sept. 23 – Oct. 23, Biltmore Estate’s Harvest Home Celebration, Fridays through Sundays. Celebrate a simpler time at a harvest fair with craft demonstrations, exhibits and mountain music, children’s crafts and fun. For more information, visit www.biltmore.com.
The Biltmore Estate prohibits bikes from being on the property, and they do not run a shuttle from the front entrance to the house. CNC will have shuttle services going to downtown, but I'm not sure if Amanda has arranged for a CNC shuttle to transport people on the Estate. It is about 3 miles from the front gate to the house. Time of arrival from Raleigh will determine whether or not you will have adequate time to visit Biltmore. It takes several hours, and it closes at 5:00 PM. The cost is quite pricey...$42.00.
As for routes to ride on Saturday, we have a group that will be riding the Parkway to the Folk Art Center leaving at 12:00 Noon and again at 2:00 PM. For those who would like to ride alone, we will have route sheets available at registration. An earlier group will be riding through Biltmore Forest and Village to Downtown Asheville leaving at 10:00 AM.
Those wacky Cecils know how to make money They do allow bikes, but only on the trails down by the river and then only wiith a pass (for a fee). They still do not allow bikes (ones without a motor) up to the house.
I have been allowed to drop people off at the house so if you can get a ride (maybe a taxi) that is an option, but as stated previously the estate does not offer shuttles to the house from the gate.
Apparently mountain bikes are permitted on the Estate trails; however, when Ron and I spoke with tickets/sales, they were quite clear that bikes were prohibited on the paved roads due to the narrow conditions. What a shame...it would be a beautiful place to ride. We also tried to get group rates, but the best they would do for us was around $37...and only if a minimum of 25 people went in together.
