I'm planning on doing CNC for the first time in 2006. I'm curious about Bubba's Pampered Pedalers which I've seen references to in this forum. I'm interested in hearing about experiences others have had using his services and whether it is worth the price or not. What does it cost? I don't currently own a tent. It looks like Bubba provides a tent as part of his services. How much would it cost to buy a decent tent myself as opposed to just using Bubba? Does anyone feel that using his services takes away from the overall experience?
If I decide to register with him, when and how do I do that? How soon does he fill up?
Bubba has a great service even though I have not personly used it. Basic if you like to ride and camp afterwards at the CNC campsite, but you don't want to setup and take down your own tent every day. Then Bubba is for you. He will have a tent setup with a really thick air mattress inside and have you baggage nearby. He seems to take really good care of his guests. I have been riding the CNC for the last 6 years and his service just keeps growing. I like to call his tent city BUBBA-VILLE.
This dOG has no problems with Bubba. I remember when he RODE these tours. His tent was called the "BUBBADOME". Bubba rocks if this is the type of ride you are looking for.
Thank you for the interest in this service. CNC is a very popular ride for this service and it does fill fast. If you wish to read what others have said, check out the web site...www.BubbasPamperedPedalers.com and read the guest book.
You do not want to mess with packing, setting up, tearing down, and repacking a sleeping bag and tent (almost guaranteed to be wet at some point) each day. You want to have your gear shuttled separate from the masses so it easier to find after riding each day. You want your bags kept dry (nearly every CNC has had rainy days). Bubba uses tarps, covers, etc. when it is raining. You want a chair to sit on while in camp. You want a clean towel for showering each day. You want your tent pitched on the best ground available at each site.
As far as missing out on the experience, Bubba's group camps with the masses, so you will see all of each day's "tent city", take in the evening entertainment, and mingle as much as you wish.
I've done multiple CNC rides and have gym camped, camped with Bubba, and stayed in hotels. Of them all, Bubba's is the easiest and gives the best CNC experience.
if you buy in to Bubba's service, not only do you receive all the great amenities he provides: tent, mattrass, towel, chair, cold beverages, munchies, best location, etc. you buy in to a family. Bubba and his crew are first rate! i have used his service both times i did CNC, and he and his crew made my experience totally relaxing and worry-free. i felt well looked after and, well, pampered. and who else is gonna take all your drenched cycling clothes to the laundramat after a day of rain so you will be dry at the start of the next? for me, it's money well spent.
Thanks everyone. I sent in my registration and got confirmation back from Bubba. I've been excited about doing CNC since last summer, but knew I couldn't go last year. I will be there this year come hell or high water.
