Long time ride--first time CNC touring. This is for those of you who know these towns in NC. I'd love some ideas on the better places to eat. By that I mean: Not Micky D's, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, etc. Just the local places with good local cuisine. I'll be riding with three friends from Texas and we all like to eat. Any an all help/advise is appreciated.

I will let each answer for their home town but dining out is very easy on the ride.  Each town sets up shuttles to carry people around town to various resturants and the Chamber of Commerce or some civic group usually sets up an info booth at the camp ground.

Just wait until you get to Smithfield or Kinston for BBQ, the real stuff!!!

Halfway between Smithfield and Kinston (near Goldsboro) lives Wilbur's BBQ - the best in NC in my opinion. If the route goes near it, I'm heading over there for lunch that day.

Plan on eating out on Saturday night in Banner Elk. There are lots of great places within walking distance. There should be information available at the campground.

Each overnight campground will have a hospitality tent staffed by locals.  They will have lists of restaurants, shuttle bus routes, some restaurant menus, and their personal recommendations.
