First, foremost, and alwaYs:

GREAT JOB BY CNC STAFF, REI, VOLUNTEERS, and HOST TOWNS! Thank you thank you thank you!

the good:

1. Route, esp the Todd route along the New River. Sweet!

2. 95% plus on the logistics of moving 1000 folks with CNC low paid staff

3. Bill K's treatment of gym camper luggage, he gets an A+! Innovative and caring.

4. We were pretty darned lucky on the weather, generally above 50 and dry. Lesson learned at Kinston: afternoon showers means afternoon showers. Ride fast!

the bad:

1. How many folks does it take to hook up a shower truck at L MacIntosh? Waaaaayyyy too many waaayyyy too long!

2. Cold male shower truck in Kinston on a cold day. Hey, that's what these guys do for a living!

3. All you can eat meal at the end of the ride means all you can eat, and ditto for beer: I felt so sorry for late arrivals that had to wait for food and missed the beer. Sorry, Rowland, I will take better care of my elders next time...

Bottom line: So sweet, thank you CNC folks, and it sure beats working this week!

Jack

I was one of the first riders to arrive in Kinston and I had a hot shower. In fact, I was amazed that the shower truck was up and running at noon. I give the shower truck crew a lot of credit, the showers where clean and well stocked everyday. Sure they had troubles hooking up one day but cut them some slack, they got it going after a while. I'm sure it wasn't an easy task finding the right fittings for an operation like that in a town you're unfamiliar with. Heck, my water bottle and wash cloth did me just fine until the shower was fixed.

CNC rocked and I plan on riding again next year !!

The Showers were by far the best thing in this whole deal!  Nothing like a good shower after a leg workout.  You feel like a million bucks!  The shower crew were heroes in my book!  Thanks!  I would not have been nearly as nice without them.

As someone on the ride said to me during the ride "CNC is my vacation from retirement"   I can say the same thing.  I was a great week of doing something other than nothing.
