I just completed the CNC survey and the idea about the 2week ride on the 10th year sounds fantastic. I had heard this back at the Spring Ride and I can't wait. My little one will be 6 by then and should be ready to follow in the Laws girls footsteps and get on the tandem. I hope the 2week ride will go from Murphy to Manteo, for those not from NC this is truely from one end of the state to the other. Keep your fingers or whatever crossed.

Had a great time on my first CNC tour this year. Is the weather always that nice? Ha, I sure heard about that on the tour. I also am interested in the 2 week tour but I was hoping they would do a 2 week and a 1 week tour. The 2 week tour could start at the coast and go west ending at the starting point of the 1 week tour on Saturday. Then you could hook up with the 1 week group taking a different route back to your starting point and their finishing point. Think of the money you would save by not having to take the bus.

Make no mistake about it, Murphy to Maneo is challenging. I remember in '99, my very 1st state ride, going thru downtown Murphy on a dark Sunday morning and seeing a bank thermometer reading 37 degrees. We left Franklin on day 2 in a pouring down lightning storm, it was crazy to ride amongst all that electricity! I was worn slap out that nite in Brevard, barely could climb into a bunk. Your knees and legs will tell you what they think about 4 days of riding in the mtns. It was a welcomed sight to come thru Chimney Rock and see the rolling Piedmont open out in front of us. The rest day in Albemarle was truely needed. 


The two weeker was special, the climb from Brevard in the spackled sunlight as it fell thru the falling leaves and we climbed our butts off for an 8% slope for miles up to the Blue Ridge Parkway...Don't forget your headlight for the tunnels!


I hope we do a two weeker for 10 years in 2008, that'd be special!
